The Hager Group tries out the Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle

Within the framework of its sustainable development policy, the Hager Group has chosen to take part in the experiment initiated by Toyota and EDF to assess the performance of the Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHV). The aim of this real-life trial is to validate this solution technically and economically: a car that combines a rechargeable electric engine with a standard engine. Some one hundred PHVs and the associated infrastructure to recharge the electric batteries will thus be tested shortly in Strasbourg, over a 3-year period.

The Hager Group site in Obernai will therefore soon welcome three PHVs to its fleet and be equipped with charging stations. However, the Hager Group’s involvement in this experiment does not stop there. Electric cars need to be recharged and putting in place the charging infrastructure is a real challenge: in the near future, the charging stations will become a fully fledged element of the electrical installation.

A neat design for the charging stations

The Hager Group possesses much of the know-how required to manufacture the charging stations. To prepare itself for the opportunity that this market could represent in the years to come, as part of this project the group has developed charging stations with a carefully studied design in partnership with the Lorraine company Technolia. Our group was thus chosen to manufacture the charging stations that will be installed in companies partnering the experiment and on the public thoroughfare in Strasbourg. These stations have been designed by Erwin Van Handenhoven from the Hager WIN-co agency.

The experiment will be officially launched at a public event organised at the Place de l'Etoile in Strasbourg from 26 to 28 April.
