1959 Establishment of the “Hager Electro S.A.“ in Obernai/Alsace – only a short period before the economic attachment of the Saar-region to the Federal Republic of Germany as a new federal “Land“ , the “Saarland“. Since then, the company has been equally rooted in Germany and in France.
Among the innovations introduced in the first 15 years is the usage of plastic for elements in meter panels, the introduction of the metering enclosure on the German market and the introduction of the “Hager Rapid Systems“ on the French market, as well as the first meter mounting board according to DIN VDE.
The nineteen-seventies are a period of uncertain market conditions. Hager meets this challenge by the introduction of the modular system and a new organisation of sales, in France and by a revised version of the enclosure system in Germany – the success story of the metering enclosure and distribution cabinet begins.
In the nineteen – eighties, Hager moves into commercial construction. The establishment of branches in various countries as well as the enlargement of existing cooperations is a preparation for the opening up of the market within Europe. The emphasis is put on innovation: Hager takes a leading position in the technology for building automation systems, the development of an own series of MCBs.
Since the nineteen-nineties, there is a strong focus on enlargement. Enlargement in opening up new, international markets as well as enlargement of the range of products towards a complete programme.
Addition of distribution bases in Europe and Asia. In order to broaden and to complete its range of products, Hager acquires further specialist businesses. Lumetal, Tehalit, Flash, Ashley & Rock and Polo strengthen the Hager Group.
Building automation is of increasing importance – Hager continues to improve and complete its own system “tebis“ by constantly adding new functional aspects.
In numerous countries wiring accessories are part of the range of products and for a few years now, safety and security systems have been completing the Hager-programme.
